ROTARY PLAYGROUND PROJECT
Donations accepted through March 17, 2015.
The Tuscola Rotary Club is soliciting funds to help build a 48’ x 78’ pre-school children’s playground in the north end of Ervin Park between the pavilion and the road around the softball diamond. The proposed playground will be a quality, low maintenance design that will feature six pieces of equipment and hold approximately 65 children. The pieces of equipment will include a train module, shade canopy, wavy mirror, rockers, several slides and a faux rock wall structure along with other features. A trike track and a fence will encompass the perimeter. The state-of-the-art safety surface will be 8 inches of rubber mulch topped with a solid rubber surface. The project completion deadline is May, 2015 with construction expected to begin in April, 2015.
The cost of the playground project is approximately $118,000. The Tuscola Community Foundation (TCF) has awarded a grant of $10,000 to help with fundraising efforts. $63,000 has been raised thus far and the City of Tuscola has agreed to match dollar-for dollar up to $22,500 in an effort to make this project a reality. Thus, at this time for every dollar you contribute, a total of $2 will be donated to the playground.
